About Me
Below is a short exert about myself followed by a resume which highlights some of my major accomplishments and organizational involvement. It highlights campus activities, volunteer projects, internship experiences, honors, achievements, and more.
As a female standing at a tall six feet and two inches, I have never had the luxury to be able to simply blend in with a crowd. I once wanted to be average so I could be like everyone else. Now, however, I understand how fortunate I am to be able to be different and to be above average in more ways than one.
In high school I played on one of the best girls basketball teams in the nation, yet I never needed or even necessarily wanted to be the star player. I enjoyed leading from behind the scenes because I knew that we would ultimately shine as one, which we did with three straight state championship titles. I considered continuing my basketball career into college, but upon the receipt of an academic scholarship I decided to leave the game behind. However, I never abandoned the mentality that I developed throughout my years of playing on a championship team. Instead, I simply transferred this mindset to a new passion: public relations. I love this field because it is not about personally being in the spotlight, but rather about helping the client succeed.
My undergraduate time at Hampton University has been a monumental developmental experience. Through on campus involvement, active community service efforts, and internship experience, I have grown immensely throughout my undergraduate time and I look forward to continuing this growth as I pursue a legal education. I intend to study law because I not only want to understand the law that governs us, but also to be able to fully think like a lawyer. Being able to analyze situations with a legal education will allow me to more efficiently help future clients. I know that the best way for me to succeed in this field at the level that I wish to achieve is to gain a legal education, particularly through the Sports and Entertainment Law Practice at Villanova University School of Law where I will be begin attending this upcoming fall.
I was once scared to admit, even to myself, my true goals, not to mention actually pursuing them. After a professor pulled me aside for a heartfelt dose of constructive criticism, I then decided to stop being afraid of my dreams, to stop dimming my own light in fear of outshining others, and to no longer be scared of the attention that may come with simply allowing myself to reach my full potential. Unlike when I was in high school, I now proudly stand tall above the crowd.
